Market Place Kitchen & Bar, Avon

I’m super excited to share my latest foodie post from the Local Scoop series. I was recently invited to attend an afternoon sampling wonderful cocktails and small plates from the latest Market Place Kitchen & Bar located in the beautiful town of Avon. The rustic look and feels of the restaurant is not only pleasing to the eyes but incredibly homey. There’s just something about a place where comfort is the key element. I loved the beautiful wine wall as it definitely sets the tone. Executive Chef Roy creates amazing menus while sourcing from CT farms. It’s a great way of supporting local farms whilst enjoying delicious meals that are fresh and healthy. I loved the combo of these fresh Watermelon Kabobs! Made with Goat & Feta cheeses and Fresh Mint, totally something I’m dying to recreate at home. Another favorite from the menu was the Smoked Salmon Deviled Eggs, a fresh take on a classic is always welcomed. There’s always room for a drink or two and I was super excited to try the New Age Margarita! Made with some basics and a pretty presentation. The salt foam is a great touch veering off from the typical salted brim!My idea of sushi with a twist. Ahi Tuna Tartare Philo Cups, can it get any cuter (or delish) than this!Wild Mushroom Risotto Croquettes had me at whoah! I’m a huge fan of mushrooms and anything having to do with dipping. There just weren’t enough of these for me! I have to admit, I’m so not a fan of the Moscow Mule but when you add a touch of slurpy, well that sort of changes everything. Frozen Moscow Mule is a great twist on an old classic and one that you can certainly enjoy all summer! The open kitchen concept is comforting and effective. Patrons can watch the chefs at work, listen to kitchen traffic and smell all the good aromas, all right before your eyes as you wait for your culinary masterpiece. It is entertainment at full force while making this restaurant kid friendly as well.

My favorite drink of the hour was The Parisian. Made with infused blood orange vodka, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon and grapefruit made this drink a must-have! I can’t wait to go back for more.Marketplace Kitchen in Avon offers lunch and dinner with brunch service beginning on Mother’s Day 2017.
