Wearing black and brown sounds like a fashion faux-pas. For as long as I can remember most people shy away from this color combo and honestly I don’t understand why. All you have to do is take a look at vintage menswear and you will find amazing outfits in these two colors and see how perfect they go together. Obviously it’s a combination better left for the fall and winter seasons but when done right you end up with a very classy look.
How to wear black & brown
- Limit your outfit palette. The main colors are black & brown and a neutral accent color, I chose the plaid skirt. Stick to neutrals as accent colors.
- Incorporate one item that includes both black and brown to pull all the pieces together. The plaid skirt managed to create this.
- You can either match your shoes to your handbag or match them to your coat. In this case, match your boots to your blazer to keep symmetry.
- If your outfit feels too dark add an accessory to brighten the look. Chunky gold jewelry does the trick! Or you could layer a white collared shirt under a sweater if you’re wearing one.
- The easiest way to style this color combo is by wearing all one color head to toe with the other as a coat or blazer.
