Black for the New Season

I was in Newport over the weekend for the annual Newport Boat Show, (did you catch my stories on Instagram?) and I brought along this comfy black dress for dinner one night. I absolutely love it because it’s slightly stretchy and has pockets. After dinner we ventured out to see what boat I could afford. SPOILER: didn’t find one…

I’ve already begun to swap out the summer layers for some autumn and among the changes include wearing black. I have for the most part transformed my wardrobe into blue and white and while I can wear the colors year long, I tend to wear darker tones for the fall and winter seasons. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that we have less sunlight. Or that wearing black in the summer gets me too darn hot.

I wore the dress alone with simple sandals since the weather was absolutely gorgeous but I can definitely layer it later with a blazer, a cardigan or a jean jacket. A pair of comfortable kicks will do the trick for a casual look or a pair of classic loafers for those preppy fall vibes.
