Another thing I love about our winters in New England, besides comfort foods and roaring fires is the fantastic ski season. As simple as a short drive anywhere up north and we’re in ski heaven. You can see more of our family ski trips here and here.
I’m by no means a great skier, I typically lounge at the base of the mountain or grab a stormy cocktail at the summit lodge, if you can get me up there. But usually I ski the green trails (for non-skiers, the green trails are the easiest trails to ski on) and maybe hit a quick blue trail. However, ski season can be as much fun as you allow it to be and with a large family like mine it is definitely a lot of fun. It is also, in my opinion, the best way to break up those long winter months.
Bundling up for a day at the slopes doesn’t mean you go without style. You don’t have to look like the kid in “A Christmas Story.” There is a plethora of super cute wardrobe pieces to make your day at the slopes or at the lodge warm and stylish.
If you’re not into skiing, or simply just can’t get to a mountain you can still get your aprés ski vibes. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite ski-related items that you can wear anytime during the winter months. Whether it’s skiing or hiking in the snow or better yet ice skating at a nearby frozen pond, they’re all fun winter activities that count.
