Fun Summer Reads

It’s not often I get to sit and read a book uninterrupted but it sure is a great way to unwind and enjoy the long, lazy days of summer. I’ve always been an avid reader but since the inception of social media, Netflix and all things reality TV, finding a good book to get lost in has almost become a pleasure of days long gone. It is precisely because of that, getting my hands on a satisfying book is a treat of sorts. Here’s my list of some new (old) favorites for you to escape and enjoy!

‘THEY WISH THEY WERE US’ by Jessica Goodman Definitely one of those preppy mysteries I totally enjoy! A slick, taut murder mystery set against the backdrop of an exclusive prep school on Long Island.

‘A WICKED GENTLEMAN’ by Jane Feather Can’t not get a good aristocracy mystery novel. Bestselling author Jane Feather brings to life the glamour, sophistication, and intrigue of Regency-era London in this captivating novel of unexpected passions and dangerous secrets.

‘LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE’ by Celeste Ng As if the Hulu mini series wasn’t enough! This is quite the whirlwind novel. Full of uncompromises, this book explores the weight of secrets, the nature of art and identity, and the ferocious pull of motherhood—and the danger of believing that following the rules can avert disaster.

‘THE HEIR AFFAIR’ by Heather Cocks I jumped onto this but it would make a lot more sense to begin with the first book. Making it up the aisle was the easy part but Rebecca must now survive her own scandals and adjust to royal British life in this follow-up to The Royal We.

‘THE CITY BAKER’S GUIDE TO COUNTRY LIVING’ by Louise Miller I love a good cookbook and I love living in New England. A delightful mix of culinary adventures with several tablespoons of Gilmore Girls country living and quirky characters for one rich and cozy romance.

THE BOOKSHOP’ by Penelope Fitzgerald This is such a great read! I was mildly disappointed with what could’ve, should’ve been for this character! It’s now a movie and also a great watch. Florence makes a success of her only bookshop in a little seaside town while at the same time angering the town’s matriarch.

‘THE PERFECT COUPLE’ by Elin Hilderbrand Another New England based summer perfect read! It’s Nantucket wedding season, and the Otis-Winbury wedding promises to be an event to remember: the groom’s wealthy parents have spared no expense to host a lavish ceremony at their oceanfront estate. But it’s going to be memorable for all the wrong reasons after tragedy strikes: a body is discovered in Nantucket Harbor just hours before…
