March Madness and How to Decompress…

So we finally made it to spring! They say March comes in like a lion and out like lamb so I’m optimistic that we’re gonna get back to normal in no time at all. In the meantime, let’s try not to fret. There are some simple things we can do to try to ease this craziness we’re all facing.

One of the things I keep reminding myself is to NOT get overly anxious about anything. I used to be one of those worry-warts sort of person but with age comes wisdom. I try not to fear the unknown. And since I have complete control of my outlook and how I respond to things, I’m taking this crazy time of ours to enjoy the outdoors a little more. This too shall pass.

I’m so not into the ‘home workout’ thing. I’ve done it before and I usually end up in the kitchen looking for snacks. But with a little help from my latest gadget and weather permitting, I prefer to go for long walks. And since Glor is home with me it’s even better! It feels good to breathe in that fresh spring air! It also helps if you live in an area where there isn’t much traffic. Our roads are not busy at all and they are the best for running or riding a bike.Vineyard Vines shep.Vineyard Vines shep for kids.We happen to live at a cul de sac and our neighbors are spread out. We also have a fresh water pond nearby where we can skate during the winter and fish during the summer. The nearby woods provide hiking trails and add another layer of challenge to my workouts.

Going for a walk is the perfect time to talk. Whether it’s with Glor or my husband or the boys, we can talk about anything and everything. And right now we all need reassurances. We talk about current events, about future plans and what to expect or what not to expect. We also sing and we play. It’s refreshing to step away from the phones, the TV and the constant negative news.

I know not everyone has wooded neighborhoods but if you can get out for a walk, do it. I promise you’ll feel better after. Believe me, I struggle with working out. I don’t particularly enjoy sweating or being sore after a tough run but my mind thanks me later. It also helps with meditating. By meditating I mean focusing on positive things and being thankful and mindful of all the things we have to enjoy, specifically good health.Vineyard Vines shep for kids.vineyard vines shep. So, if you find yourself struggling with what to do while at home think no further than going for a walk. It’s nothing fancy. Heck you don’t have to put on makeup or suit up like a marathoner. Just throw on a pair of kicks and go! I promise you’ll feel better.

We’re all in this together. Wishing you a safe and healthy spring ahead!☀️
