Family Room Tour

While I was in a mild winter funk the last month or so I didn’t completely lose my touch when it comes to decorating. I’m sharing the latest look I’ve created for our family room, one of the most used room in the house (and also my fave). I find it therapeutic when I move things around and garner new ones to display. A touch here, some paint there and I feel so good after a job well done. Second to the kitchen, our family room is a busy place and the one where we spend our winter nights by a fire. In the coming weeks I’ll continue to tweak things and sprinkle pastels throughout as we finally head toward the spring season.The first major change to our room besides a new paint job was getting rid of our old leather sofa set and replace with this fabulous white leather couch. When I first laid my eyes on it I knew it was the one. The color is exactly what I wanted as the major centerpiece of the room. Though it took me a little convincing him to agree, it is exactly what I was hoping for. Our previous leather set was a camel color and lasted us nearly 22 years. Since then I knew I would never go with a fabric couch, I mean lets face it, leather is much easier to clean, obviously lasts longer and invokes timeless chic. Instead of purchasing the entire leather set as before, I chose to add different accent chairs to help create a seamless eclectic look.

I LOVE the feel of luxurious leather because it’s soft and comfortable. It’s the perfect material especially if you have a busy home. I’ve also always fancied the tufted look on furniture and this one embodies the meticulous craftsmanship. It’s definitely a showstopper and the nail head details adds the finished look of a classic piece. I must add that it’s an incredibly heavy and sturdy piece of furniture. I’m looking forward to the many years we’re sure to have with it.

I layered the sofa with several pillows of which I’ve linked on the bottom of the page. Also, Serena & Lily is currently having a sale on pillows and throws with code LAYERS. And watch for tomorrow (3/10) as they begin their brand-wide event with the Spring Design Sale where nearly everything on site will be 20% off thru 3/16!The other piece of furniture I added was this beautiful coffee table from Serena & Lily. This one I really had a hard time convincing my husband to agree on and indeed took him a while, but it finally grew on him.😁 Besides the coastal vibes, this piece reminds me of something you would find at Ernest Hemingway’s Florida home. Inspired by mid-century antiques, this chic table pays homage to the textural beauty of handwoven rattan, a material known for its natural warmth and easy elegance. I’m currently crushing on the matching bar cart which would be so perfect in one of my corners to replace existing table… stay tuned!The spindle arm chair replaced our old camel leather club chair. I love the casual style and I think that’s why it’s trending HUGE this season! I follow a lot of home decor influencers and most of them are showcasing the spindle chair. I fell in love with it’s unique look that I think we need another one by its side, still debating… anyways, it’s a great comfy chair and incredibly well built. It’s super sturdy, very handsome and goes so well with the rest of the room’s decor. You can easily find it in many patterns and colors. Look for Serena & Lily’s version on sale tomorrow which I think will be summer perfect!The last piece of furniture I added to the group was this charming striped tufted chair. This particular one is sold out in stripes and is just available in solids, but you can find the same stripes in this new chair style, although this one is very similar to the one I have as well. I made sure to Scotch Guard the fabric before setting it out in order to maintain it’s brightness and keep from potential accidents. I love the look and it’s a great chair to have next to the fireplace where I can cozy up with a good book.I hope you’ve enjoyed my family room tour. I’m so looking forward to the warmer weather and can’t wait to open all the windows and air out the house. At least we finally have lots of sunshine coming through and longer day hours, yay!
