Easy DIY Winter Tablescape

Rosa Diana shows us how to create a super easy rustic winter tablescape. When I set out to create this tablescape the goal was to keep it simple with a definite winter feel. This is something you can re-create at home in no time at all and best of all, with minimal fuss. I used a combination of old and new to keep it rustic and slightly romantic. I find that rustic décor can be a little overwhelming so I prefer to keep some traditional flare in order to soften the overall look.

I started with a layer of winter greenery sprays that I found at my local Michael’s craft store. I could’ve easily gone to my local nursery or florist and gotten the real thing but I prefer not to deal with the mess it creates when drying out over time. Also, I will be able to use these year after year. Mine have little baby pinecones that make it so real. You can find some with berries and even snow on their tips. In this case less is more. I grabbed four sprays and layered them on top of my burlap table runner creating the rustic touch. How to create a sparkly rustic winter tablescape.Next I added some pizazz by weaving these tiny glimmer lights through the sprays. This adds depth and it’s also where the ‘romantic’ part of the décor comes into play. They look fabulous and create an intimate lighting accent. I love that they are battery-powered and the tiny LEDs (the size of a grain of rice) are easily shapable allowing you to arrange them in any way.

The ‘old’ comes from monogrammed silverware, candlesticks and napkins which are vintage finds I’ve had forever. Adding personal touches like these creates an atmosphere of cozy friendliness. There are plenty of places you can have your linens monogramed. Mark and Graham has a variety of napkins you can have personalized to your liking while Williams-Sonoma also has a nice selection to personalize. Anthropologie has these fabulous candlesticks that would be perfect in this tablescape. I used my au naturale dinner plates I’ve had for several years that are as simple as they get, just how I like it. I use these ALL year round and the best part is that all I have to do in order to dress them up is to pair them with other pieces. I found these gilded wreath salad plates and thought they were perfect for my rustic/romantic winter theme. You can find the entire dinnerware set here.

The crystalware is from my wedding registry I picked long ago. It’s super easy to play with different styles of crystalware in order to make it your own. These glasses have the gold and etched look that will go perfect with this tablescape and are also great for all year entertaining. The milk glass dessert cups are vintage pieces I found at local antique shops years ago.

My goal is to show you how to create a fabulous table setting with minimal fuss. I hope you’ve enjoyed this tablescape and it serves as inspiration for your next winter dinner table.
