Apple Picking | Plaid Mini Skirt

Apple picking season in Connecticut.Apple picking season in New England! So here we are once again. It is legit the last day of summer 2017. There is a chill in the air and the humidity high. I can’t decide if I’m hot or cold. Far from the last day of summer back in 2008 when I gave birth to my daughter. It was a hot sunny day then. The boys were fishing and swimming in our pond when my water broke. I have such fond memories of that day that I’ll never forget. Needless to say it’s out with the old and in with the new…@jcrew plaid mini and button-down oxford. Apple picking season!Leave it to New England weather to dictate our outfits for the day. I had planned on getting my apple picking done early in the season to avoid the huge crowds, limited picking options and hopefully not too cold. What I didn’t plan for was the high temperatures, (note to self, check weather app more frequently)!

In previous years we wait till the end of September early October to go picking apples. But that’s also peak season and the crowds are crazy with kids running all over the place. And when you’re trying to do a photo shoot, well you can imagine what that’s like.

You can’t tell by the pictures but last weekend it got really hot and I was sweating up a storm. I couldn’t believe it! Most of the summer this year was unusually cool and of course the one day I decide to wear boots it reaches record high temps! But alas, we had a blast! I got my first activity done from my fall bucket list, although I’m almost positive we’ll do another trip back. It’s the imperfect fun little things that make everything so much more enjoyable. We won’t soon forget this apple picking venture.Apple picking season 2017! Wearing @jcew stretch buttondown Oxford and plaid mini! @llbean monogramed tote for apple picking season! Apple picking season! Plaid mini and riding boots. It's apple picking season in New England! The @llbean monogramed tote is per for apple picking season. My Oxford button-down shirt and plaid mini skirt are both from JCrew, but totally by chance. I’ve had this shirt for several years and on a last minute whim I decided to wear it with the skirt. I originally had a shell and cardi to pair with the skirt and now looking back I’m glad I didn’t wear them.

The skirt is shorter than most I wear but the boots made up for coverage and comfort. I can’t say enough about it! I wish they had more plaid colors available because I would really indulge in getting more. Made of a combo of wool and other materials it’s surprisingly soft. It also has a hint of stretch which is always a plus in my book. Runs true to size (tts) and right now fully stocked for under $40. I highly recommend this classic piece for your fall and winter season.
