6 SPRING CAPSULE WARDROBE STAPLES

As much as I love seasonal trends, it’s the wardrobe staples that I reach for the most. Whether I need something quick and simple to wear or whether I want to build an outfit with a solid base, there are certain pieces in my closet that I consistently reach for. Today I’m sharing my Spring Capsule Wardrobe Staples for 2024, with some of my favorite pieces you can wear year after year. That’s the beauty of a wardrobe capsule!

TIP These staple pieces can start or finish any outfit. When putting your outfit together, as long as you have the essentials, try adding a colorful silk scarf for an elevated look.

  • TRENCH COATS A trench coat is one of those foundational wardrobe staples that you can wear now and forever. In a spring capsule wardrobe, it provides the perfect amount of coverage, whether you choose to layer over something as simple as a T-shirt or over a piece of knitwear on cool days.
  • GREAT JEANS You don’t need me to tell you what makes a great pair of jeans, I could go on for hours about a handful of them. You can find yourself a great pair with a flattering fit that can go well with just about everything from polished penny loafers to kitten heels. Jeans are versatile, with endless options to kick off your spring denim journey.
  • LOAFERS Leather loafersneedlepoint loafers, driving loafers, oh my! If there’s ever a statement shoe to slip into during the spring, it’s a loafer. Any loafer! Luckily, there are many outstanding options to choose from. My favorites include the traditional boat shoes from Sperry, and G. H. Bass’ Original polished black penny loafers.
  • LIGHTWEIGHT KNITS No matter the season, a lightweight knit is a forever closet staple. Whether a cashmere crew-neck sweater, a polo style or a v-neck vest, (yes, a vest!) the offerings are as cool as ever as well as versatile and practical.
  • SLEEK SHIRTS  Button-up shirts are the ultimate layering essential, always adding a pop of polish to any outfit. While striped options are a versatile menswear-inspired take, (and I do love them), I prefer the classic white, crisp shirts for the ultra-minimalist look that goes with everything.
  • A BLAZER The same argument I made for the trench coat applies to my spring blazer choice. A blazer with notched lapels, and gold buttons, looks like it was borrowed from another decade. This wardrobe piece is an instant classic that can take you places. Pair it with denim and gold jewelry for a look that is truly timeless!
