Recently my little Gloria attended a cooking class at our local Williams Sonoma store. The recipe of the day called for “Madeleines,” a delicate and delicious little French treat shaped like a shell. Perfect as a mid-afternoon snack with tea or as an after dinner dessert with your favorite cup of jo. It was a fun collaboration featuring American Girl doll Grace, who is suddenly uprooted by her mother and taken to Paris where she learns to make these amaaazing French delicacies!
I vowed from that moment on to never buy madeleines from my local grocer’s. After learning how easy they are to make I couldn’t believe it and neither will you. When and only when I find myself in a French patisserrie will I ever buy them again!
This recipe is based on Williams Sonoma’s “Baking With Grace.”

I love that cup and saucer. I have the blue and white theme going on in my kitchen, too!
Thanks Elayna. It is one of my treasured vintage sets.
What a perfect, delicate little cookie. Love that they are easy enough to make, as long as you have the molds.
