One of the things I love most about living in a four season location is that I get to update my front door entrances with seasonal plants and flowers. Come spring I put my pots out and fill them with fresh annuals. I usually try to pick plants that can last from spring through the end of summer. And while I frequently update my home decor, I don’t change much in this space. Because I don’t celebrate holidays I keep my entrances pretty neutral and it works well for much of the year, except for a few pumpkins in the fall.
Pots, urns and baskets are obviously great for displaying flowering plants and greenery. There are so many to choose from that you can’t possibly go wrong finding the perfect style for your home. Also, make sure to replace any worn out welcome mats. A fabulous jute mat makes the spot feel homey and chic and adds a layer of texture.
Update your front door entrance by swapping out old tired lighting. If you have a basic builder-grade entry light, replace it for one that is more modern and better suits your home’s style. There are many you can find under $100.
Another item to update is the door knocker. A bold piece can give the door instant personality. And of course the most inexpensive way to transform your front door is with a fresh coat of paint. You can choose colors that go from playful to a more dramatic look.
