3 Favorite Winter Comfort Foods

We just got hit with a major cold blast! When I woke up yesterday morning and saw it was -5 degrees Fahrenheit I almost choked on my coffee! But, it’s only fair to say that it is January and it is winter. This time of year I go full blown oven crazy lady. Almost all the dishes I make for dinner are made either in the oven or in my slow cooker. From stews to soups to hearty pasta dishes, tis the season for some serious comfort food!

I’ve rounded up three of my all time favorite winter comfort foods. I’ve made these myself and I can tell you that they are A. fool proof and B. super yum-mo and so easy to prepare. Time to sit back and relax with a favorite comfort food by the fire.

You guys, I swear by this recipe! I kid you not when I concur that it’s the easiest way to make homemade Mac and cheese! I make it more times than I’d like to admit. It’s literally my go-to dish during the winter months and I’ve paired it with chicken, steak and fish. Mac and cheese is the epitome of a great American comfort food in my book!

Slow Cooker Chicken Tortellini Soup

Here’s another example of how fabulously easy a home cooked meal can be! Any time I can add pasta to my dish I’m in. Tortellini soup with chicken is a classic in my husband’s Italian heritage. This one is amazingly delicious and the fact that you just throw everything into the slow cooker is a plus. Easy, delish and a fantastic crowd pleaser for those cold winter nights!

Spaghetti and Meatballs

This is my own recipe of an otherwise classic comfort food. And you can easily tailor it to your liking. I chose gluten free products for a family friendly healthy option without sacrificing flavor. A nice crispy salad on the side completes the meal!
