It’s been exactly a month since my visit to the season’s most anticipated event of the northeast! I was thrilled to be back at my favorite city by the sea, most notably known as the playground for the elite of the gilded age. I made my way through the bustling crowd at the magnificent Marble House for the 11th Annual Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival with camera on one hand and a glass of wine in the other. Tasting fabulous wines from around the world and sampling delicious foods from local and national chefs all on a beautiful waterfront setting, how bad can that be! Needless to say I had a very fun and busy day during my grand tasting visit. My favorite French rosés looking fine at the festival, ‘Whispering Angel’ and ‘Rock Angel.’Each year vintners, chefs and honored guests make the VIP list for this crème de la crème event of the season! More than just fabulous french rosés and wines, the event was fully stocked with all sorts of spirits and elixirs, numerous celebrity chefs cooking demonstrations and other culinary activities. They even had a fabulous display of several vintage vehicles courtesy of Newport’s own Audrain Auto Museum.
Chef Jacques Pépin with daughter Claudine.I’m already counting down the days till next year’s event. I can’t wait to be back for more!
xx, Rosa
Special thanks to the Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival and the Newport County Preservation Society for inviting me to this super fine event!
