Sunday Brunch by the Shore

Over the weekend I brought the kiddos out for a nice brunch by the shore to Shell & Bones Oyster Bar and Grill in New Haven, CT. What I didn’t know was that I would be in for quite a surprise. Eating by the water is always a good idea in my book but when you pair it with a fantastic view of the CT shore, well that’s just fabulous. Our Sunday was a tad dreary but none the less warm and beautiful given it was the last weekend of summer. shell-and-bones-ldp1After taking in the views we were seated by the patio area and we began our culinary journey with great cocktails. My Bellini was ever so refreshing as was the ‘man-mosa.’ The ‘breakfast bloody mary’ was just that, a meal build into a cocktail!shells-and-bones-ladydianaspearls-6We chose classic brunch plates since I thought it was too early for the raw bar. The ‘oysters rockefellers’ were on point! Cheesy and garlicky, just the way I like them and so delicious!shells-and-bones-ladydianaspearls-1French Toast, Vegetable Omelet and Crab Eggs Benedict were the guest of honors on our table. Each plate was more delicious than the one before. I must say the presentation on these dishes were so pretty it almost made me not want to touch them. shells-and-bones-ladydianaspearls-8shells-and-bones-ladydianaspearls-9shells-and-bones-ladydianaspearls-10shell-and-bones-ldp2shell-and-bones-ldp3I really like the idea of being surrounded by water and having boats as my wall decor! I love eating alfresco and Bone & Shells did not disappoint! There’s just something about having a warm breeze brush your face as you sip on a favorite cocktail.

Having said that, I don’t think there is a dessert on the menu you don’t want to try! I was incredibly surprised at the amount of options on the dessert menu. Most restaurants offer a very limited dessert list, maybe 3-4 items but not here. We couldn’t decide what to have so we each tried a different dish. shells-and-bones-ladydianspearls-4shells-and-bones-ladydianaspearls-5shels-and-bones-ladydianaspearls-2shells-and-bnes-ladydianspearls-3shells-and-bones-ladydianaspearls-11shell-and-bones-ldp4The service was fantastic, the view amazing and the food perfection! I’m hoping to be back for more before it cools down too much. I’m always in awe when I find new places to dine in CT. There are always little gems hidden in our state to be found and this is one big pearl I highly recommend you go and check out!
