Taste of A’vert Brasserie

If you follow me on Instagram you know I was recently blowing up my feed with some amazing food pictures from my visit to A’vert Brasserie in West Hartford. Thanks to Chef David Borselle, the French bistro has such a chic and unique atmosphere that it quickly made me forget about wanting to travel half way around the world in order to get a legit taste of French cuisine!The bar at A'vert Brasserie in West HartfordChef Borselle introduced himself and then went on to prepare an amazing spread of small bites for us to enjoy. We began our culinary tasting trip with ‘The French Maid’ cocktail, made with Remi, ginger beer, mint, cucumber and Fekner followed by a refreshing aperitif wine, Cote Mas Brut Rose.a 'French Maide' from a'vert brasserie in West Hartford, CT.Shortly after we were introduced to a gorgeous spread of Charcuterie (cold meats) with Goat and Blue Cheeses selected by the Chef and accompanied with another spread of Toast and dried fruit. Next was a wonderful display of Petit Duck Confit with spicy aioli and Braised Beef Short Rib mini sandwiches.Small bites at A'vert Brasserie in West HartfordChampagne at A'vert Brasserie in West HartfordNext on the table and perhaps my favorite plate of all was the ‘Seared Hudson Valley Foi Gras’ with green apples, fig jam and croutons. This was absolutely devine. It literally melts in your mouth!

Along came the just as amazing ‘Trout Grenobloise’ with shaved brussels sprouts, green beans and beats and another spread of toasted baguette with goat cheese, honey and basil, delish! Small bites at @avertbrasserie in West HartfordThe different dishes were complimented with glasses of a wonderful Bordeaux from the Chateau Saint Andree Corbin and Cote Mas Blanc. And how fabulous is the presentation of  ‘Seared Scallops!’Wines of @avertbrasserie'Seared Sea Scallops' @avertbrasserie West Hartford Last but certainly not least the most perfectly tender and delicious Braised Beef Short Rib ‘Bourguignon’ with button mushrooms, bacon, pearl onions in a burgundy veal jus!'Beef Bourguignon' @avertbrasserie West HartfordAnd to complete to French culinary adventure we were presented with a fantastic plate of indulgence, ‘Profiteroles’ with caramelized almonds and chocolate sauce, a beautiful dish of the prettiest Macarons and Bisccottis accompanied by a little glass of wonderful dessert wine.

With its etched glass and gorgeous marble topped tables by the beautifully stocked bar, A’vert is as friendly and sophisticated as I imagine its counterparts in France are. I really enjoyed the ambiance throughout the restaurant which is partly partitioned to separate the bar from the ‘dining area.’ The French decor touches are easy on the eyes with a slight glam feel suitable for the happy hour gastronomes to the brunch bunch.

Reservations not accepted, but guests may call a half-hour before arrival to be put on a list. All major credit cards accepted. Wheelchair access. Metered parking on the street.
