My Top 4 Summer Beauty Essentials!

I know, I know, spring has just begun, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t think about summer just yet. Here are a few of my absolute summer beauty essentials that I can’t live without and neither should you. The sun is hanging around longer and the temps are slowly creeping up. These summer must haves play a huge part in having beautiful healthy skin and hair all summer long.

Aside from the basic protection I get from moisturizers I use all year long, this is my go to protector for when I’m out in the sun for an extended amount of time. There are so many products to choose from in the market but this is definitely one to try. The best part is that it’s a one-stop shop. You get the protection you need for face and body, depending on skin type and sun exposure level and you have options for the entire family including babies. sunscreen Other great ones to try; Badger, Coppertone and Aveeno. All of these were among the best sunscreen protectors based on the EWG’s guidelines for protection, stability and health concerns.

  • HATS

No longer just a fashion statement, hats play a big part in sun protection. I always keep one handy in my car all summer long.

HAIR CARE

Another benefit to wearing hats is that you protect your locks from the damaging sun rays as well. We tend to forget that our hair also absorbs toxins around us and as such we should do well to use prevention. There are many products in the market for hair care but we’ll limit to just three concerns:

  • Sun protection. While the sun’s natural lightening doesn’t cause significant damage to your hair, over exposure to the sun’s rays can cause dryness and unwanted lightening to colored and highlighted hair. To keep the sun’s effects at a minimum, try Kérastase UV protecting shampoos, conditioners, and styling aids.
  • Moisturize. Restore healthy hair with regular deep conditioning treatments.
  • Heat protection. Protecting your hair from heat damage is a tough game, considering hot tools are reaching temperatures of 400 degress plus and add to that the extra sun exposure. Tresemmé Heat Tamer Spray is the one I use and have been for several years now. It’s a great styling product with the benefit of heat protection. I often stock up on this product as I use it practically every day.tresseme heat tamer protect

 A few others to consider:

Not only do we all want to look great but we also want to protect those pretty little blues, or browns or the greens in our lives. Choose sunglasses that provide full protection against ultraviolet light. Look for a label or a sticker that says one or more of the following:

  • Lenses block 99% or 100% of UVB and UVA rays
  • Lenses meet ANSI Z80.3 blocking requirements. (This refers to standards set by the American National Standards Institute.)
  • UV 400 protection. (These block light rays with wavelengths up to 400 nanometers, which means that your eyes are shielded from even the tiniest UV rays.)

FACESHAPES

I hope these beauty tips help keep you looking great! Do you have a sun protection regimen you follow all summer?
