The Versatile PeaCoat

We are well into the very festive and colorful holiday season. With that in mind I couldn’t help myself to take out one of my all time favorite coats, my red Peacoat!

Worn originally by sailors, these coats go back as far as 1790 in fashion history. The heavy wool and double breasted style is classic and is so versatile that these are no longer just for men. Although it has had some updates throughout the years the style remains the same. Newer versions offer both men and women colors, textures and lengths.

I have a couple different ones with this deep red one being my fave. Staying warm while keeping some style is always on my mind before I head out the door. This peacoat does the job just right!red coat1

In keeping with the red theme for this outfit, I chose my red tartan blouse under a very playful sweater with polka dots. Don’t be afraid to combine patterns. If the flow is soft and the colors blend in well then go for it! Stripes and dots compliment each other and these colors are lively and festive. So right for the season. From the office straight to happy hour this ootd was simple and fun.
