There’s something about apple season that makes fall feel officially here. Maybe it’s the crisp air, the sound of leaves crunching underfoot, or the scent of cinnamon drifting from the orchard bakery. Over the weekend, we headed to one of our favorite local orchards for our annual apple-picking day. The trees were heavy with McIntosh, Galas, and Cortland apples. They glistened in that soft golden afternoon light that makes everything look like a postcard.
For the day, I wore this soft and super cute red short-sleeved cardigan I picked up from H&M. I paired it with these great fitting stovepipe jeans from J.Crew Factory, and my favorite og’s from G.H. Bass, the classic penny loafers. It was the perfect mix of classic prep and comfort for a fall afternoon outdoors. It was an easy outfit that felt pulled-together without trying too hard (and ideal for snapping a few orchard photos).

We wandered through rows of apple trees, taste-testing as we went (because of course that’s part of the fun). We filled our bag until it was overflowing, 5 lbs to be exact! There’s something so grounding about the simplicity of it, no rush, no noise, just family, fresh air, and a few sticky fingers. And of course, no trip to the orchard is complete without a stop at the farm stand for warm sweet apple fritters, fresh-pressed apple cider, and a few jars of apple butter “for later” and another huge mum for the front entrance of our house.

THE OUTFIT SHOPPING LIST

Back home, our kitchen smells like fall. I’ve already bookmarked recipes for apple crisp, baked apples, and maybe even a rustic galette for dessert this week. If you’re looking for the perfect fall activity in New England, this is it—part adventure, part tradition, and 100% perfect.
