When I began planning my daughter-in-law’s baby shower, I knew I wanted the day to feel extra personal and filled with little touches of love. Instead of ordering flowers, I decided to use hydrangeas from my own garden to create the baby shower bouquets. Hydrangeas have always been a favorite in our family, and this felt like the perfect way to bring something meaningful into such a special day. Glor and I stepped outside and gathered as many flowers as we could for this occasion. Thankfully the bushes were in absolute full bloom giving us plenty to work with.

How I Used Hydrangeas From My Garden to Create Bouquets for a Baby Girl Shower
Choosing Hydrangeas for a Baby Shower
Hydrangeas are timeless, elegant, and surprisingly easy to arrange. For this shower, I clipped blooms in shades of light pink, pink and lavender hydrangeas. These colors felt soft and perfect for a baby girl shower theme. Their big, full blossoms filled out each vase beautifully, so I didn’t need many stems to create a statement centerpiece.
Creating Simple DIY Bouquets
I gathered the cut flowers in bunches and placed them in painted mason jar vases throughout the space: on the dessert table, near the entryway, and on each guest table. The result was effortless but so charming. It was exactly the kind of DIY baby shower décor that feels both polished, personal and fun.
Why Garden Flowers Make It Special
Using fresh cut hydrangeas from my own garden made the event feel even more memorable. Every bouquet carried a little bit of home and love, adding warmth and character to the celebration. Guests noticed and commented on how unique it was to have my own garden-grown flowers rather than store-bought arrangements. The vases were equally unique as Glor and I hand painted each one with random pastel colors and prints.

Final Touches
If you’re planning a shower or family celebration, I can’t recommend hydrangeas enough. Whether you’re using them for baby shower centerpieces, bouquet arrangements, or just a single vase by the cake, they bring instant beauty and charm.
This day was already filled with joy and anticipation as we celebrated the upcoming arrival of my first grandchild, but the hydrangea bouquets made it all the more beautiful. Sometimes, the simplest touches are the most meaningful. 🌸
