Spring 2025 No-Makeup Makeup To Try!

Spring is almost upon us and it’s also a great time to refresh your makeup routine! As we shake off the winter blues, welcome Spring by embracing your natural beauty with a little color and glow. Thew new season’s makeup trends strike a perfect balance between effortless and statement. I’ve always been of the kind that less is more when it comes to makeup, hence my no-makeup makeup approach. I’m all in for the dewy, radiant skin technique with a classic lip combo. But most of all, I always like to concentrate on the lashes for a soft glam-like look without the boldness of a smokey eye. For spring think dreamy pastel eyes that feel fresh and playful. Let’s welcome the new season with a minimalist approach for a no-makeup makeup look!

Also, before applying makeup you should always start off with freshly cleansed and hydrated skin. Not only will your skin behave better but it will help you achieve the best makeup results possible. I have a fantastic post with an in depth look at how I approach my skincare routine. It’s full of skincare tips for flawless skin.

the no-makeup makeup technique

  • CONCEALER The no-makeup look or as it’s now referred to as “clean girl” aesthetic is here to stay, as it should. This makeup technique revolves around hydration, skin tints, sheer concealers, and skin loving formulas that are key to achieving a natural, barely there look. I start with L’Oréal Age Perfect Radiant Concealer with Hydrating Serum. I have soft lines and wrinkles which are now part of my look and this concealer gives me hands down the best outcome for coverage. I’ve tried many concealers out there and so far this is the one I rely on for the added benefit of hydration. If you suffer from dark circles then this Maybelline Color Corrector Concealer is the best!
  • GLOW FILTER Next I use e.l.f’s affordable skin glow filter. This product helps in achieving the base for a natural dewy look. I usually put on a thin layer all over (excluding under eye) with a foundation brush. Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer is another fantastic option with SPF 30 and Hyaluronic Acid.
  • CONTOUR To contour or not… I personally like to contour because it helps me achieve the illusion of more defined facial features. I like to place my contour on the upper hollows of the cheeks and on the jawline. This balances light and shadow, essentially enhancing my natural bone structure. OGEE Sculpted Face Stick is a fantastic contouring product. Just make sure to use a good contouring brush like this Duo Brush for Cream + Powder.
  • FACE POWDER Now that we have the bases covered, I have two approaches to this part of my makeup routine. If I feel like I need a little more coverage or to even out my overall face color, I pat on a small amount of bareMinerals Original Loose Mineral Powder. I apply it all over, including but not focusing on, the under eye area. If I want to tone down the dewyness and not look like I just got out of the gym, then I use ONE/SIZE Ultimate Blurring Setting Powder. I know it sounds counter to the natural dewy finish that we want but when I use this product I pat on a very small amount for a dewy look with a silky-smooth texture.

  • THE BLUSH I personally don’t have a preference for the type of blush to use, whether powder or cream. I alternate between the two with this lovely L’Oréal True Match Powder Blush which blends nicely and evenly into skin for a natural flush of color or the Rare Beauty Soft Liquid Blush. Caution when using the liquid blush because it is hyper pigmented and a little goes a long way!
  • HIGHLIGHTING Highlighting brightens and accentuates specific areas of the face. From subtle radiance to serious shimmer, light-reflecting makeup products have the ability to brighten up dull complexions, giving your skin a healthy glow. Like the blush, I alternate between cream and powder for this technique. Rare Beauty’s Positive Light Liquid Highlight is amazing! Like it’s sister blush, a little goes a long way. Rare Beauty’s Silky Highlighter is also insanely good for achieving a glass-like sheen that lasts.
  • THE BROWS I wish I had thicker well-defined brows but since I don’t, I have to fill them in ever so strategically. There are days when my brows are on fleek and then there’ve been days when I literally looked lop-sided. But I digress, I fill them in with the best brow coloring pencil known out there. And it happens to have a waterproof formula for up to 36HR wear! Then I brush on e.l.f’s Clear Brow & Lash Mascara to help condition and groom them into place.
  • EYESHADOWS FOR SPRING A soft smoky eye in pastels works for both daytime and nighttime looks. While I don’t always wear eyeshadow for day, we’re looking for a polished and put together without the glam look. Lavender, peach, and soft pinks are universal colors that compliment almost all skin tones. On the eyes, these create dreamy, fresh and ethereal looks.
  • THE LASHES Unfortunately I wasn’t gifted with beautiful long lashes so here’s to the next best thing. I am a huge proponent of falsies and I wouldn’t leave the house without having done my lashes. For full glam makeup I wear SEPHORA’s Vegan False Eyelashes. And when I have time, for natural but fuller lashes I put on Venus Lash Clusters. I’ve pretty much mastered both techniques and I absolutely love how they turn out. If your lashes are naturally beautiful, you can enhance them with FENTY BEAUTY’s Hella Thicc Volumizing Mascara.
  • THE LIP COMBO A perfectly lined lip paired with a complementary lipstick and then topped with a glossy finish is the go-to look. I personally opt for a brown toned liner blended seamlessly (no harsh lines) then add a pink or nude lipstick, finishing with a high gloss. Sometimes I forgo the lipstick and I just use a high pigmented lip oil. Either way, you end up with a perfectly colored pout.
