Traveling during the winter months can be a little bit of a challenge if you ask me. One thing I detest is having to sit for an extended amount of time in uncomfortable seating and clothing. The other is having to travel in uncomfortable clothing and footwear, (I learned my lesson on that a long time ago). Winter definitely makes it a challenge when figuring out what to wear for airport travel.
When traveling you want to feel comfortable especially when you have a long travel day ahead of you. The airport can be a tricky place to dress for, especially when you’re going from freezing temps outside to warmer climate. Do you go for chic leggings? A cozy yet put together sweat set? Or maybe a classic demin look that balances style and comfort? I’ve rounded up some great travel outfit ideas that will take you places in comfort without sacrificing style.
THE BLAZER

An essential piece in my winter travel wardrobe is a classic blazer. Whenever you put on a blazer not only does it instantly elevate any outfit but it’s also great for keeping warm. IMO, the blazer is one of the best wardrobe pieces you can wear for your airport travel outfit. Since a blazer is smaller and lighter, unlike a long coat, you avoid wearing an extra layer of bulkiness. You also get the added bonus of wearing it over any other outfit during your vacation. I prefer opting for neutral tones like grey, camel, black, or cream because they’re versatile and effortlessly chic. Just throw it over a tee, a button up or even a short sleeve sweater, and if you get too warm, you can easily remove it.
MONOCHROME OUTFITS

Another great option for airport travel outfits is a simple monochromatic look. If you’re having doubts or just simply out of styling ideas, a monochromatic palette is always a great option. I especially love going for an all white, but an all black makes for a classy outfit. A monochrome outfit literally takes the guesswork out of putting together a good fit, with the added benefit of a streamlined look. Whether it’s a high end matching sweat set or a cozy long sweater with coordinating pants, a monochrome look always feels polished and comfortable.
SWEAT SET OUTFITS

A sweat set is probably one of my favorite outfits for a chic winter airport travel look. Today’s many options of top tier sweat sets are super stylish, incredibly comfortable, and you guessed it, easy to put together. The key in finding a great sweat set is to opt for a well fitted set in good quality material. This will ensure that you look polished rather than sloppy. Pair your sweat set with a good pair of sneakers (think Adidas Sambas or New Balance 327) for a mod, off duty look and finish with a classic crossbody, a cute belt bag or a large tote as your airport bag.
DENIM TRAVEL OUTFITS

If you want to look chic while traveling and just can’t be without your favorite pair of jeans, then I’ve got options for you. Personally I refrain from wearing jeans when traveling because they tend to be worn fitted hence restricting movement and comfort. However, jeans are classic and are usually easy to style. You can opt for any shade of denim, I personally love darker wash jeans with stretch for a comfortable and polished look. Wearing lighter wash denim gives off a more casual, laid back feel. Jean jackets are also classic and they instantly add a preppy touch to your outfit. Pair your jeans with a cozy sweater or a simple tee, and layer on a long cardigan or a cashmere wrap for warmth.
OLD MONEY OUTFITS

For the ultimate chic airport travel look, there’s nothing more fitting than trousers. It’s the perfect way to look and feel comfortable while exuding old money style. We can pair the trousers with a striped button up for a casual but sleek look. A monochrome palette is effortlessly chic and is perfect for a minimalist style that feels both modern and classic. If you’re going for black trousers, a white t-shirt or a grey cashmere crewneck is a simple but ideal outfit for travel. Finish your outfit with chic sneakers or flats for a polished, yet casual look.
