Home Office Makeover

Life is funny sometimes. On a recent day, when I found myself thinking about it, I suddenly realized that the place I use most often to write and think somehow got lost in the shuffle of life. That’s what I faced, a home office in distress. How did I let this happen? It seems to me that when a new year begins it offers another chance to start over with fresh ideas for many aspects of life.  There I was, thinking about changes to be made and that brought me to the topic at hand, Home Office Makeover!

photo (38)If you’re anything like me, busy mom, wife and all around worker, you can easily ignore the obvious because it’s not a “priority,” and this area of my home happened to be a target. It was prime for a makeover! The place where I collect my thoughts, make plans and set goals was a working disaster. This area should be tidy and organized, otherwise how else are my plans gonna take fruition…

Luckily, I didn’t have to replace many items because I already had most of the essentials for my office. However, it did need a little updating with organization and a fresher overall look. I think my before and after pictures will inspire you. It’s incredible how much impact you can create with minimal changes.

office decorI started out by assessing what was necessary for me to have at hand, what needed to be archived and what had to be trashed. I’d say about 75% of the “stuff” I had laying around I didn’t need so I got rid of them. Ten percent was stored away and the rest I just reorganized. The small changes took a lot of thinking and planning because I had a lot of sentimental items. But the end result was a fresh new look without the clutter!

I hope these serve as an inspiration to get your personal work area freshened up. I now feel a little more complete and a lot more excited to continue my daily tasks, especially to be working on my blog in a very comfortable and much prettier setting.
