“Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick and pull yourself together.” -Elizabeth Taylor
With the season for gatherings and festivities in full gear, I wanted to share with you my tips on properly stocking your bar. While making sure to keep all things chaste and in moderation, here are some some of the things you’ll need at hand for your next gathering.
Every great party host always makes sure to have her bar stocked up to par. With that in mind, if you don’t already have a Bar Cart, then you’re in luck. There are many carts out there for your liking. From high end styles like this one from Williams Sonoma, which I love in Antique Brass, to more affordable selections like this one at Target. But before you head out seeking for that perfect little bar cart, look around your home, you may find something you can use that will do the job just fine. I actually have a Tea Cart which I thought would be great as a Bar Cart but I decided to use my Buffet Hutch instead, making use of double duty. It’s much bigger and I didn’t have to move all my china elsewhere. I’ve stocked up with these simple essentials and some of the more popular spirits.
For the hard core; Rum, Vodka, Scotch and Gin. Mixers & Garnishes: Club Soda or Tonic Water, Swizzle Sticks, Lemons, Limes, Olives, Maraschino Cherries, Simple Syrup and Salt.
For the sweet and graceful; Chambord and Amaretto in Vintage Coupes, Whiskey in Crystal Tumblers
Red & White Wine and their Crystal Stemware
This is only a sampling of some of the basics for a Cocktail Bar. Have fun putting yours together with the essentials you enjoy most. Cin cin!
